What Is “Shinrin Yoku” or “Forest bathing”
In Japanese, “shinrin” means “forest,” and yoku means “bath.” So shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest-enjoying nature, or “taking in the forest” through our all our senses.
In essence, a forest bath is an extended period spent quietly experiencing a wooded area, as secluded from the modern, man-made environment as possible. Participants engage all their senses while they notice sights, smells, sounds, feelings, and even tastes (think berries, etc.) of the forest.
Just 50 minutes north of Houston, the beautiful Sam Houston National Forest awaits with wooded trails, lakes, birds and wildlife, restrooms, campsites, and more. Let us join your wellness team!
